WILL ALL GOOD PEOPLE BE SAVED?
Even the very best people, who have lived long enough to know the difference between right and wrong, have sinned. The Bible says: “What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks, that they are all under sin. As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one. . . . For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:9,10,23). In Acts, chapter 10, we read about a man named Cornelius. Cornelius was a very good man. He was also a very religious man, but he was not saved. Please notice the Bible’s description of this good man: “There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always” (Acts 10:1,2). Please observe that Cornelius was a worshiper of the true God and had taught his family also to fear God. Too, Cornelius was a man of prayer. He was also kindhearted and generous for “he gave much alms to the people.” In spite of his faith and good deeds, Cornelius was not saved. He was told by an angel of God to “Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon whose surname is Peter, who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved” (Acts 11:13,14).
